Laura Restrepo
Laura Restrepo volunteer fellow at U.S Fund for UNICEF.
Laura Restrepo is a clear example of dedication and commitment. An International Business major graduate with a concentration in Sustainable Development and Environmental Studies from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont, Laura has been supporting and volunteering for UNICEF since she was 16 years old, while living in Colombia, South America. She first started by creating a club to support the works of UNICEF in her native country. When she entered college she immediately founded the UNICEF Campus Initiative Club and it has since become one of the most important clubs at Green Mountain College.
Over the past year, Laura served on UNICEF’s Campus Initiative National Council. Along with a handful of students from across the country, she led UNICEF's Campus Initiative, a "growing grassroots movement rooted in a belief that college students have a vital role to play in helping the world's children survive." Campus Initiative Clubs conduct campus-wide education, advocacy and fundraising activities to benefit UNICEF. Due to Laura’s dedication, she was recently named a Gold Recipient of the 2009 President’s Volunteer Service Award, a national honor recognizing community service. She was one of 67 volunteers nationwide singled out by the U.S Fund for UNICEF for demonstrating “exemplary citizenship through volunteering.”
Even though Laura just recently graduated from college and is no longer part of the Campus National Council, she continues to provide her support to UNICEF and is currently doing a volunteer-fellowship program at U.S Fund for UNICEF.
